Word for the Week ~ 5/6/2019

W

Greetings,

Sunday was a great day for our church as we commissioned our new 16th President of the University of Central Missouri, Dr. Roger Best and his wife Robin, along with our high school and college graduates.  It was good to see so many participating by wearing UCM’s school colors for the service.  It was also a mixed day of emotions as we said our final farewells to J.R. Reynolds at 4:00 p.m. in a Celebration Service for him and his family.  It was a very moving service.  J.R. will be sorely missed.

Special Mother’s Day Services:  This Sunday we will be having a special Mother’s Day service and Baby Dedication on May 12th. We have a special gift for all of our moms, and if you have a child you would like to dedicate to the Lord, please contact the church office today so that we can make arrangements to include your family.  Tammy will collect the information we need to have for the event.  This will include your child’s name, birthdate, and a scripture verse that you would like read.

Memory Monday will meet today at 2:30 p.m. in The Park. It is really a great time as our students come to receive help with school homework, play games, memorize Scripture, and share a great time of food and fellowship with the other students. Please encourage your youth in grades 6-12 to come join the fun. Call Logan for more information at (225) 963-0236.

Prime Time (Senior Adult Choir) will meet tomorrow morning at the church at 9:00 a.m. to rehearse and then leave at 9:50 a.m. to head over to Country Club Care Center to sing at 10 a.m. This is a wonderful ministry of our church, and we would love for you to join with us.

School Teacher Recognition/Appreciation.  Tomorrow on May 7, we will be assembling goodie trays to be delivered to Warrensburg R6 schools and the Johnson County Christian Academy (10 trays). Your contribution of home baked, or bakery cookies, brownies or other individual treats would be appreciated to recognize the hard work these individuals contribute to our community. Yes, we still need another 100 dozen. Please no packaged cookies. Thanks in advance for your help of time and “goodie” items.

Wednesday Night Supper/Missionary: This Wednesday night on May 8, beginning at 5:30 p.m., we will have our Wednesday night supper and special guest Wilkie Richmond who will be sharing about his work as a missionary in Northern Wisconsin with the Native American Indians.  Plan now to attend this very inspirational service.  The children will be having Wednesday Night Live (WNL) at 6:15 p.m.

Haiti Mission Trip Meeting:  There will be a meeting Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. in room 101 of the FLC.
