Word for the Week ~ 2/22/2021

Greetings,

I was not surprised to see such a great attendance on Sunday.  With restrictions slowly being lifted, active virus cases dropping, the weather improving, vaccinations increasing, and the anticipation of children’s Sunday School starting back up next Sunday, our attendance has jumped over 50% in the last month.  It was good to see even more children in worship yesterday as well.  The Deacons will be setting up more chairs in the Worship Center for this Sunday.  Praise God!  As always, the music last Sunday was wonderful.  The theme was “faithfulness in worship” which fit perfectly into our text from Luke chapter six about the Sabbath.  I loved the offertory that Dave and Denise did Sunday.  I personally called Dave to share with him what a great job they did!  I was also blessed by the prayer that Greg Greer gave during the offertory as Deacon of the Week.  This coming Sunday we will be moving into the latter part of chapter six in Luke’s gospel as we see the final calling of the twelve disciples and the message Jesus gave for the occasion.  Was this message the same Sermon on the Mount that is recorded in Matthew 5-7, or was this a different message with much of the same content?  Read both accounts this week and decide for yourself.  Be sure to check out my sermon outline that we will email to you this Friday at 2:00 p.m.

Details for Children’s Sunday School This Sunday:   As we have done with the other classes, children grades K-5th will meet in a “large group format” in the Educational Center (Old Sanctuary) for Sunday School this Sunday at 9:00 a.m.  This will allow parents to attend worship at 9:00 a.m.  The new class will be using the children’s Sunday School curriculum as they always do, and we will be teaching it as a regular Sunday School class.  We hope to be able to move to two classes as soon as possible, and then three.  Eventually we hope to be back to our regular Sunday school departments.    Likewise, the Nursery kids (ages birth-2) will meet in the toddler room in the extended foyer of the Worship Center, and kids ages 2-Pre-K will meet in the children’s corridor in the two long double classrooms starting Sunday.
