Word for the Week ~ 5/13/2019

Sunday was a great day!  It was good to see 430 worshipers on such a rainy day as it was.  Having finished up chapter five in Hebrews, we will be ready this Sunday to move on to chapter six as we look at one of the more difficult passages in the New Testament that some people have used to falsely teach that one can lose their salvation.  At first glance, Hebrews 6:6 seems to suggest that Christians can “fall away” from their faith.  Be sure to bring your Bible this Sunday as we look honestly at this passage to see what God’s Word is really teaching us from Hebrews.  On another note, it was great to see so many coming to join the church Sunday and seeking to follow Christ in believer’s baptism:  Elizabeth Carter came forward to join the church on the statement of her faith in Christ along with her two children, Colton and Olivia.  In addition, Megan Crowder came forward with her boys, Nicolas and John, who desire baptism.  It was also our privilege to dedicate Greg and Rachel Clancy’s young daughter, Merida, to the Lord.

Please pray for our Mission Team as it leaves out this Tuesday for Haiti.  Our group will return next Thursday on May 23rd.  It was good to participate in the commissioning.

Memory Monday will meet today at 2:30 p.m. in The Park. Next Monday, May 20th, will be our last meeting for the school year.  It is really a great time as our students come to receive help with school homework, play games, memorize Scripture, and share a great time of food and fellowship with the other students.
