Word for the Week ~ 7/22/2019
Sunday was quite a day as we heard a great report from Teresa Collins about Vacation Bible School and listened to the children sing one of their favorite songs from VBS entitled, “In the Wild.” It was such a blessing to hear that the kids had raised over $9000.00 for missions in Haiti. Wow! As I shared in my message Sunday from Hebrews eleven, the practice of giving requires “Faith” as we saw in the life of Abel in Hebrews 11:4. The music was very special for the 407 worshipers who attended. July has been a good month for attendance in spite of all of the crazy weather.
We had another good turnout for Community Outreach Sunday. If this is a ministry you would like to know More about, just give Logan a call and he will fill you in on all of the particulars.
A Big VBS Thank You: We want to thank Teresa Collins and all of the Vacation Bible School staff and workers this year for doing such a great job! This year we had the highest student to teacher ratio that I think we have ever had. It was a huge success in so many different ways. See the enclosed picture.
Men’s Ministry Council: Our Men’s Ministry leaders will be meeting today at 11:30 at Zaxby’s to discuss our Men’s Retreat coming up in October.
Journey Group: The Journey Group will be meeting tonight at the church at 6:00 p.m. to head over to the home of Logan and Lindsey Williams for dinner and discussion. Logan will be talking about Care Ministry in the church. Call Rhonda McKee for more information at (660) 441-7338.
Taco Tuesday: A group of men have been gathering for some time now for lunch on Tuesdays to share a time of food and fellowship. After opening the group up to all of the men in our church last week, we had an even better attendance. This week we will be gathering at Cancun’s Mexican Cuisine on Maguire Street and Russell Avenue for lunch at noon. Please feel free to join if your schedule allows and bring a friend. We generally meet for just an hour, but some do stay longer.
