Word for the Week ~ 8/26/2019

Sunday was a wonderful day for the 400+ who were there to embrace the worship of our Lord.  As chapter thirteen of Hebrews concludes with the parting words of the Apostle, it is not at all surprising that he puts “love for our fellow believers” at the top of the list (13:1), and also includes love for strangers and those who suffer injustice.  The Bible is clear that sympathy, compassion, and understanding are always at the forefront of what defines how true believers behave. I appreciated so much the well chosen worship songs in our service yesterday that spoke of love, such as, “They’ll Know We Are Christians By Our Love.”  Next Sunday we will continue with Hebrews 13:10ff.  It was also a great blessing to have 7 people joining the church yesterday:  Joyce Ryssmann and Cathy Clear joined in the first service by transfer of their memberships from a sister church here in Warrensburg.  In the second service, Draven Snyder came forward to confess his faith in Christ and to join the church.  In addition, John and Kelly Brittain, along with their two sons Caleb and Micah, joined the church by transfer of their memberships.  What a day!
