Word for the Week ~ 8/3/2020

Greetings

Sunday was a good day of worship and praise.  Attendance was up and spirits were high.  Observing the ordinance of baptism always seems to do that on some level as we witnessed two young people following Christ in the confession of their faith.  The music was great and it is amazing to see how practical God’s Word is even today in the midst of a pandemic.  Next Sunday we will be looking at chapter eight in Second Corinthians.  Be sure to download the outline attached in this Friday’s email.  Don’t forget to watch Grover Kid’s Club House, which meets Sundays at 10:30 a.m. on Facebook Live.  It doesn’t get any better.

The Youth Group also met Sunday night at the church for a special time of fun, games, and socially distanced worship. They had about twenty in attendance.  Contact Pastor Logan for more information about getting your youth involved.

The Journey will be meeting tonight at 7:00 p.m. here at the church for Bible Study and discussion. They will be starting a new mini-series entitled, “Behold the God Man.”

Special Prayer Request:  As we think about our college students starting back on August 17th and our Warrensburg public schools getting started on August 26th, please pray for our teachers, administrators, and students as they prepare for the fall semester ahead.  These are unprecedented times for our young people.

Sunday School Start Up:  Our Sunday School Leaders have agreed unanimously to start Sunday School back up on September 13th at 10:30 a.m. with four large-room classes. The startup will serve well as a transitional format in moving back slowly into our original Sunday School program. Three of these classes will be based around one of our three Lifeway Sunday School materials (Gospel Project, Bible Studies for Life, and Explore the Bible.) The fourth class will be a special hybrid class for young families with children taught on Sunday nights at 5:00 p.m. More details will be forthcoming.  Pray for our Sunday School leaders as they will be meeting again next Tuesday, August 11th, at 6:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center to work out the details of our fall Sunday School program.

Associational Meeting:  We will be sponsoring the quarterly Executive Board meeting for the West Central Baptist Association on Thursday, August 13th, at 6:30 p.m.

Board of Director’s Meeting:  We will be having our regular Board of Director’s meeting Wednesday night, August 19th, at 6:30 p.m. in the Worship Center.

Faith Riders will be having their monthly ride on Thursday, August 20th, at 6:00 p.m.

Prayer Updates:  Pray for Jerrell Votaw and his family in the passing of his sister, Debra Dart, early this morning in Florida. Arrangements are still being made.  Remember Ginger Doerflinger as she recovers at home from her hip replacement two weeks ago.  Pray for Kenda Jones as she is home recovering from gallbladder surgery last Thursday.  She has a doctor’s appointment today.  Pray for David Thompson who is doing rehab at MidAmerica Rehabilitation Hospital in Overland Park.  He hopes to come home this week.  We are thankful that Melissa Plummer had a good report from her pulmonologist last Friday.  Pray for Hal Hanrahan as he recovers from his third of six chemotherapy treatments last Monday.  Please pray for Jackie Baxter (Kevine Colburn’s mother) who came home from Research Hospital last Monday.  Pray for Kevin and Kevine as they minister and care for her.  Pray for Linda Hargenrader as she continues her infusions. We are thankful that Bonnie Neal had a good follow-up meeting with the orthopedic last week.  Pray for Susie Cantrell who is being treated for breast cancer. She has a doctor’s appointment tomorrow.   Pray for Robin Thompson as she recovers at home from surgery.  She has been back in the ER several times with pain relative to an infection.  Continue to pray for Ernestine Westerhold who is undergoing therapy from the accident she had several weeks ago.  Continue to pray for Jack Wittman, Pete’s brother, who is home and doing better.  Pray for our schools, teachers, students, and workers.  Our Deacon of the Week is Brian Ridge (660) 909-1598.

Praise!  We are thankful for all of those who worked so hard Saturday at the BSU in cleaning up the water from the flood last week.

Have a good week ahead.

Pastor Randy

Repairs:  Please be patient as we are trying to get our phones repaired from the last storm at the church.  We also lost several cameras used in our Livestream services.  They are hopefully all going to be repaired this week.
